2020 Jeep Compass BS6 price hike Rs 25k to Rs 1.1 lakh range

Jeep India has revealed that their entire range of cars is now BS6 compliant. Jeep sells 3 cars in India – Compass, Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee.

After updating a few variants of the Compass over the last few months, Jeep India has now updated all variants of the Compass to BS6 standard. Local production is underway at the Ranjangaon manufacturing facility. The updated petrol and diesel BSVI range is SUV range is available to customers with immediate effect.

2020 Jeep Compass BSVI price increase ranges from Rs 25k to Rs 1,10,000 from base Sport variant to the Limited Plus top trim. Compass is available in 25 variants. The availability of petrol and diesel engine options paired with automatic and manual transmission ensures the range is wide enough to accommodate many a demand. The BSVI update meets emission compliance mandates without any change in performance. Engine specs and config remain untouched.

Jeep Compass BS6

The BS6 2.0-litre Multijet II turbo diesel engine can run on BS4 diesel until BS6 is available as standard. ‘Urea’ tech incorporated ensures peace of mind even when one isn’t sure of the quality of fuel being used. Designed to cleanse on the go, the engine requires no external intervention owing to urea technology used. Urea, usable in diesel powertrains, can be refilled through a separate nozzle next to the diesel filler nozzle.

All Jeep Compass BSVI variants (petrol and diesel) feature Engine Stop/Start as standard. It is intelligently programmed to improve fuel saving in traffic. Cruise Control, the domain of only the Trailhawk variant is now a standard feature in petrol and diesel automatic variants. Standard safety features carried forward include such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control (TC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA), disc brakes on all four wheels, Electric Parking Brake (EPB) and Frequency Damped Suspension (FSD). SelecTerrain AWD system features 4 modes – Auto, Sand, Mud and Snow. The Limited Plus variant now features newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. All other Jeep Compass variants continue to run on 17-inch alloys and all-season tyres.

Dr. Partha Datta – President and MD, FCA India reiterates that the manufacturer was the first to ‘roll out a BSVI powertrain in the premium compact SUV category in June 2019’. A few short months later, the complete Jeep Compass range has been updated as per BSVI compliancy. While there is a price revision, the OEM has introduced tech upgrades across models.

Earlier in January, two new Compass variants were launched. Jeep Compass 4×4 Longitude 9AT at a price of Rs 21.96 lakhs, and Limited Plus for INR 24.99 lakh (ex-sh, pan-India). Jeep Compass Diesel 4×4 variant is paired with 9-speed AT, and gets power from a BSVI compliant 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that returns max power of 173 HP, 350 Nm of torque.
