The new Jeep Gladiator has made its global debut today at the LA Auto Show. Set to go on sale from early 2019, the Jeep Gladiator is the longest vehicle in the Jeep lineup. It will sit on a 5,181mm frame and get a 3,480mm wheelbase with the added length making it possible to accommodate a 1,254mm steel bed.
Jeep Gladiator SUV is offered in four trims of Sport, Sport S, Overland and Rubicon. The Rubicon is a more road focused vehicle with aluminum 2” diameter Fox shocks, full length side bars and will ride on 33” mud terrain Falken M/T tyres with C load rating. It gets 282mm ground clearance allowing it to wade through 762mm (2.5 feet) of water. The Rubicon also gets 43.6 degrees approach angle, 20.3 degrees breakover angle and 26 degrees departure angle.
The Jeep Gladiator gets a total of 80 safety and convenience features. Some of these are forward facing video camera, a 4 wheel drive system for 84:1 crawl ratio and electronically controlled modes for rock crawling and for taking on deep soft sand conditions. The Gladiator sports removable roof and doors and a folding windshield.
Its interiors are seen with a standard touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto besides smartphone connectivity. It gets a removable wireless speaker for its tailgate, push button start, electronically disconnecting sway bar, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
2010 Jeep Gladiator is powered by a standard 3.6 liter V5 Pentastar engine offering 285 hp power and 353 Nm torque mated to a standard 6 speed manual gearbox or 8 speed automatic sending power to all four wheels. A V6 diesel engine could also be introduced in 2020 capable of 260 hp power and 442 lb/ft (600 Nm) torque.
Scheduled to go on sale from mid 2019, no price details of the Jeep Gladiator have been revealed as on date. But considering that this is bigger than Wrangler, expect a higher than Wrangler price tag. Jeep Wrangler prices in the US ranges from $28,045 – 41,545, while in India Wrangler prices ranges from Rs 56 lakhs to Rs 72 lakhs.
