After numerous false starts, Jeep India has finally commenced its operations today by launching the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. The Jeep Grand Cherokee which is available in three variants has been launched at a starting price of INR 93.64 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited – INR 93.64 lakhs
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit – INR 1.03 crore
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT – INR 1.12 crore

The flagship off-roader will be pickup up a fight with the likes of Mercedes GLS, Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Volvo XC90. The American luxury SUV will be imported into India as a CBU.

The Grand Cherokee for India is offered with 3.0-litre V6 diesel and 6.4-litre V8 Hemi petrol engines.

The Grand Cherokee for India will be available in Limited, Summit, and SRT variants. The first two variants are powered by a 3.0-litre V6 EcoDiesel engine which is capable of 240 PS and 570 Nm of torque. The range-topping SRT variant packs a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 petrol engine which is tuned to dish out an impressive 475 PS.

Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard 4×4 system. Standard features include 5-inch UConnect infotainment system, powered front seats with memory and heating functions, electrically adjustable wing mirrors with memory and heating functions, multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, off-road terrain selector, powered tailgate, etc.

The diesel variants have an ARAI certified mileage of 12.8 kmpl.

The higher variants are offered with 8.4-inch touchscreen display, Harman Kardon with 19-speakers and rear entertainment package, electrically adjustable steering wheel, ventilated front seats, limited slip differential, panoramic sunroof, and so on.

Jeep will open 10 exclusive outlets in 9 cities by the end of this year. As of now, only Ahmedabad outlet is active but outlets in New Delhi (2 outlets), Chennai, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Kochi, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.
