Jeremy Clarkson criticized for tactless Michael Schumacher joke

While fans, well wishers, motor-sport drivers and the world at large are in a state of shock as seven time F1 world champion, Michael Schumacher fights for his life in Grenoble, Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson has been criticized and condemned for his tasteless remark about the racing hero’s condition.

Clarkson, 53, tweeted in reference to co-presenter Richard Hammond’s horror crash saying that “The worrying thing about brain injuries is that you can recover only to find you’re a midget with a marked Birmingham accent when drunk.” This remark is not only ill-timed but tasteless and uncalled for especially when the racing superstar fights for his life.

44 year old Schumacher is in a state of coma following a skiing accident during which he was hit on the head. Neurosurgeons at Grenoble University Hospital Center are treating him and keeping a close eye on him while they have even performed a second surgery on his brain.

As per reports received, Schumacher was skiing with his 14 year old son in the French Alps at Meribel Resort when he fell and hit his head on a rock. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and Jean Francois Payen, Head of ICU at the Center stated that he would not even be alive had he not been wearing one. Schumacher is currently in a critical condition which can be described as life threatening and is being monitored round the clock while his wife and other family members are by his bedside.
