Judge caught driving Porsche that was seized by the court
Flavio Roberto de Souza, a judge in the Eike Batista trial was seen driving a white Porsche Cayenne, which was seized by the court on a earlier occasion.
Noted entrepreneur and one of Brazil’s richest man, Eike Batista is currently on trial for insider trading and market manipulation. His white Porsche Cayenne was among a host of assets seized by the court, including a white Lamborghini Aventador.
All seized cars of Batista were expected to be confined in court custody. But when images of his white Porsche Cayenne being driven around by the judge, who is presiding over Batista’s case hearing, appeared online, a huge number of people have already started doubting the outcome of this case.
On Tuesday, Judge de Souza was spotted in the white Porsche Cayenne which was among a host of other luxury cars confiscated by the police. When questioned, de Souza said that as the police did not have a safe place for the car and it was lying in the open under the blazing sun. He wanted to preserve its condition and hence was on his way to parking the car in a closed space.
The white Porsche Cayenne was among two highly luxurious cars seized from Mr Batista’s home for safe keeping and since there was no place in the police parking, Judge de Souza took them home to be parked in his garage. This incident has put on hold the auction of Mr. Batista’s vehicle which was to take place on February 26. The proceeds were to go towards compensation of shareholders for losses which are estimated to be about $5 million.
