Kawasaki Ninja 400, which was showcased at 2017 EICMA Show, has been officially launched in India. Priced at INR 4.69 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, the fully faired Ninja 400 rivals the likes of Yamaha R3, KTM RC 390 and the likes.
Speaking about the launch – Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors said “Ninja 300 is mainly made for beginners and Ninja 650 is popular among experienced riders. However, Ninja 400 fits the bill for those who are willing to buy a sports bike between 300 and 650cc.”
New Kawasaki Ninja 400 is built on a steel trellis frame, which helps in delivering unmatched riding dynamis. Kerb weight is at 168 kgs, a reduction of 6 kgs as compared to the 300cc variant. It also receives a sharper stance as compared to the 300cc model and a sculpted look with a new instrument cluster and premium digital display.
Other design elements include a more muscular fuel tank with distinctive crease lines, a narrow tail section with LED tail lamp and mounted canister exhaust. Kawasaki Ninja 400 sports the same signature green and black color scheme.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 gets inverted telescopic front fork and rear monoshock suspension system. It gets a front disc at 310mm which is the largest in its segment and ABS is offered as standard. It also gets a 30mm narrower seat offering better riding position and 786mm of seat height.
Headlamps offer high and low beam and there is also an LED position lamp. 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 is being offered with a host of accessories among which are pillion seat cover, helmet lock, radiator screen, tank bag and tank pad. ABS is standard.
2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 is powered by a new 393cc twin cylinder, liquid cooled engine offering 44.8 bhp peak power and 38 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed transmission with slipper clutch. This engine offers 6 PS more than the 300cc and 11 Nm higher torque as well. There is not much option in the segment which is powered by a twin cylinder. But for what its worth, it could compete against the KTM RC 390, Yamaha YZF-R3, Benelli 302 R and TVS Apache RR 310 in India.
