India’s first Kawasaki Versys X300 delivered to customer – Watch unboxing video
Kawasaki Versys X300 was launched in India hardly a few days ago. Now, the first customer has been given delivery of his new bike.
Price of the new Kawasaki Versys X300 starts from Rs 4.6 lakh, ex-showroom (Mumbai and Delhi), in India. This is surprisingly higher when we compare the price of the same bike in other markets. For example, it is priced £5,149 (INR 4.3 lakh) in the UK (only ABS variant on sale) and $5,399 (INR 3.66 lakh) in the US for Non ABS variant and $5,699 (INR 3.86 lakh) for the ABS variant. This in spite of the fact that in India, the Versys 300 will be sold as a CKD.
The smaller Versys is based on an edited version of the Kawasaki Z300’s tubular chassis, with the same engine in its womb. It is powered by a 296 cc four-stroke, DOHC, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 39 PS of maximum power and 27 Nm of peak torque. This engine, along with its six-speed transmission, is already shared with the Kawasaki Ninja 300. Other parts like the fork, monoshock and brakes are also seemingly shared. ABS is on offer.
Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors said “The Versys-X 300 will offer a high level of riding excitement and rider confidence in a wide variety of roads. What makes Versys-X 300 versatile is comfortable highway cruising and easy riding in the city.”
The Kawasaki Versys X300 has appeared right in time to claim its share of the newly bubbling entry-level adventure motorcycle segment across the globe. Of course it is not alone in the segment.
The new Kawasaki Versys X300 joins the likes of Suzuki V-Storm 250, Royal Enfield Himalayan, upcoming KTM 390 Adventure, and the ever intriguing BMW G310 GS in the growing entry level adventure motorcycles. Even Honda is believed to be cooking something in the same flavour; while we wait for Yamaha to make a statement.
