Kawasaki Z250SL single cylinder naked sportsbike will be launched in India towards the end of this year, says Autocar India. The street fighter would be positioned below its twin-cylinder sister, Z250.
Z250SL is powered by a 249 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which is expected to produce around 27 bhp as against Z250’s 31.5 bhp. Thanks to a high tensile steel trellis frame, the former is lighter than the latter by a good 20 kg, so performance should be nearly identical.
The publication reports that Kawasaki India may tap into Bajaj’s vendor base to locally source certain components for Z250SL including head and taillights, switches, switch housings, radiator fan, handle bar, tyres, wheels, suspension system, clutch plate, and so on.
A sizable proportion of locally sourced parts and single-cylinder layout would go a long way in achieving a competitive price point. Kawasaki is expected to price Z250SL somewhere in the vicinity of INR 2 lakhs, making it the most affordable model in the brand’s Indian portfolio.
