Kawasaki Z650 vs New CF Moto 650 NK – Price, specs comparison

Chinese motorcycle brand, CF Motor has entered India with 4 new motorcycles. One of them is the 650 NK, which is priced aggressively at just Rs 3.99 lakhs, ex-sh. This when compared to rival Kawasaki Z650, the new CF Moto 650 NK is priced a staggering Rs 1.7 lakh cheaper.

Apart from gaining points in the price department, the 650NK also sees more in terms of features over its Z650 counterpart. The 650 NK naked street bike boasts of minimalistic designs accentuated by a muscular fuel tank, extensions sporting the company logo, a wide single piece handle bar, split seats and rear set foot pegs.

It also receives a full LED headlamp and tail lamp and digital instrument console. Kawasaki Z650 also commands a sporty stance. However, it gets an analog style tachometer with gear position indicator in the center and a multi function LCD screen. Unlike the advanced LCD headlamps seen on the 650NK, the Z650 gets a halogen multi reflector headlamp.

Dimensions – CF Moto 650 NK measures 2,114mm in length, 757mm in width and 1,100mm in height with a 1,415mm wheelbase. It gets seat height of 815mm and ground clearance of 150mm while kerb weight is at 206kgs. Fuel tank is of 17 liter capacity while turning radius is at 5.4 meters.

Kawasaki Z650 is smaller in dimensions as compared to the 650NK while it is also significantly lighter. It stands 2,055 mm in length, 775mm in width and 1,080mm in height with a 1,410mm long wheelbase. Seat height is at 790mm and ground clearance is at 130mm while kerb weight is at 190 kgs. Fuel tank capacity is at 15 liters. Both these rivals share the same tyre sizes which stands at 120/70 R17 front and 160/60 R17 at the rear.

Engine – CF Moto 650 NK gets its power via a 649.3 cc inline two cylinder, 8 valve, liquid cooled, DOHC, Bosch EFI engine. This engine offers 60 hp power at 9,000 rpm and 56 Nm torque at 7,000 rpm and claims a top speed of 180 kmph. It gets dual channel ABS as standard. Suspension is with telescopic forks in the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking is via hydraulic dual disc in the front and single disc at the rear.

Kawasaki Z650 also gets powered by a 649cc engine, but in parallel twin format. It develops added power and torque which stands at 67.2 bhp at 8000 rpm and 65.7 Nm at 6500 rpm respectively. Top speed is at 212 kmph. Front suspension is via Telescopic fork while rear gets a monoshock. Braking is via 300mm dual disc brakes in the front and 220mm disc at the rear. The difference lies in the power to weight ratio. The 650NK offers 296.11 hp/tonne as against 357.89 hp/tonne offered on the Kawasaki Z650.

So while the CF Moto 650 NK appears to be good value for money considering its much lower price tag, for Rs.1.70 lakhs more, the Kawasaki Z650 is definitely a winner in terms of performance. In addition to better performance, the Kawasaki also comes with more reliability, better service network and spares availability.
