Kia sales growth in March 2023 was driven by Sonet, while sales of Seltos Carens and Carnival suffered decline

Kia India’s dealership network currently stands at 425 touch points across 213 cities in India. The company has also refreshed its engine lineup across all models to be RDE compliant and adhere to the Government of India’s Phase II BS6 emission standards.

Kia India Sales March 2023 and Q1 2023

Kia India has announced sales for March 2023. Sales stood at 21,501 units in the past month, a 4.96 percent YoY de-growth over 22,622 units sold in March 2022. MoM sales also fell significantly by 12.60 percent from 24,600 units sold in Feb 2023.

Taking into account sales in Q4 2022-23, there were a total of 74,735 units sold allowing the company to record its highest ever market share of 7.4 percent. This was a 24.4 percent growth as compared to sales in Q4 21-22 with the Carens reporting its highest ever sales.

Exports also improved by 22 percent in the last quarter of the year when compared to sales in the same quarter of last year. Exports stood at 85,754 units in FY2023 while there had been 6,200 units exported in March 2023.

Kia Sales Breakup March 2023 – Sonet No 1

In March 2023, the company sold 8,677 units of the Sonet. This was a 26.28 percent YoY growth when compared to 6,871 units sold in March 2022 relating to a 1,806 unit volume growth. Sonet commands a 40.36 percent share up from 39.98 percent held in Feb 2023 when sales had been at 8,836 units. It was an 11.78 percent MoM de-growth.

2023 Kia Sonet has made its entry into markets and comes in a price range from Rs 7.79-13.09 lakh (ex-showroom). It receives feature updates along with engines that comply with the new RDE and BS6 Phase 2 emission norms.

At No. 2 was Kia Seltos with YoY and MoM de-growth by 22.12 percent and 18.20 percent respectively. Sales which had stood at 8,415 units in March 2022 dipped to 6,554 units in March 2023 relating to a 1,861 unit volume de-growth. The company had sold 8,012 units in Feb 2023 with a volume de-growth of 1,458 units. This took the share percentage down from 32.57 percent held in Feb 2023 to 30.48 percent in the past month. The 2023 Seltos facelift is also in the making, with launch expected soon.

Kia Carens sales fell to 6,102 units last month from 7,008 units sold in March 2022 relating to a 12.93 percent YoY de-growth. MoM sales were also in the red by 2.34 percent from 6,248 units sold in Feb 2023. However, The Carens saw its share percentage increase from 25.40 percent held in Feb 2023 to 28.38 percent in the past month. YoY and MoM sales of the Carnival also dipped significantly by 48.78 percent and 66.67 percent respectively to only 168 units sold last month.
