Kia has recorded a 9% YoY and MoM de-growth in Nov 2024 even as the EV6 electric crossover brought in significantly higher sales
Kia Motors, the 6th largest automaker in Nov 2024, after Maruti, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra and Toyota suffered a severe sales setback. Overall sales declined to 20,600 units in Nov 2024, down by 9% from 22,762 units sold in Nov 2023. It also saw its MoM sales decline by 9% when compared to 22,753 units sold in Oct 2024.

Kia Sonet was once again the largest contributor to company sales in the past month. The compact SUV topped the sales list with 9,255 units in Nov 2024. This was a massive 44% YoY growth from 6,433 unit sales of Nov 2023. MoM sales however, fell by 5% over 9,699 units sold in Oct 2024. Kia Sonet also featured at No. 9 on the list of top 10 SUVs sold last month.
Kia Carens also showed off strong YoY performance in Nov 2024 with 5,672 unit sales and a 23% YoY improvement from 4,620 units sold in Nov 2023. MoM sales however, dipped by 11% as there had been 6,384 units sold in Oct 2024. The electrified version of the Carens would stir up sales to even greater heights.
Sales decline both on a YoY and MoM basis for the Kia Seltos, a feature packed mid-size SUV. Sales dipped by 54% YoY and 16% MoM to 5,364 units in Nov 2023. There had been 11,684 units and 6,365 units sold in Nov 2023 and Oct 2024 respectively.
The relatively new Carnival MPV accounted for 241 unit sales last month. This was a 5% MoM decline from 255 units sold in Oct 2024. The company had received over 3,000 bookings and deliveries of the Carnival commenced in Oct 2024. Sources now state that the new Carnival has a waiting period of close to 1 year.
The top highlight for Nov 2024 sales was the Kia EV6. Sales were up a hefty 172% on a YoY basis to 68 units which was well over 25 unit sales of Nov 2023. MoM sales performance also ended positively with a 36% growth from 50 unit sales of Oct 2024.
Kia India Upcoming Launches
Kia now gears up to expand its model lineup with the introduction of the next gen Kia Seltos. It is currently on test and will mark its entry into the Indian markets in mid-2025. Kia will also be introducing the new Syros, with its global debut set for December 19, 2024.
There also the Carens facelift and Carens EV scheduled to launch sometime next near. Kia has also announced a price hike across range from January 2025. This price hike is set at 2% though exact price hike for each model has yet to be revealed.
