Of the 1 lakh sales registered by Kia, 97,745 units are of Seltos and 3,614 units are of Carnival
Kia Motors India has surpassed the 1 lakh sales milestone in less than a year since the launch of their first car. Eleven months into start of sales in India, and Kia becomes the newest entrant to to set the benchmark in the fastest time. One lakh customers, and counting.
Seltos The Rockstar
When it comes to sales performance, the Seltos has proven itself to be a rockstar. Kia Seltos was launched in August 2019. In 2 months, Kia Seltos claimed the title of highest-selling SUV in the segment. Not only that, Seltos also helped Kia cement it’s reputation as one of top 5 carmakers in India.
To date, the auto manufacturer retails just two vehicles here, Seltos and Carnival. The product portfolio will soon be joined with a third vehicle, the Sonet. Registered sales for now standa at 97,745 for Seltos, and 3,614 for Carnival.
At the end of June 2020, sales stood at 94,107 units. Of this, 90,709 were Seltos, and 3,398 were Kia Carnival. On account of it being the end of the month, it’s safe to say, July 2020 Kia Seltos sales has yet again crossed the 7k mark. A few more units could be added by end of day.
Kia Motors India is focused on a line up that exudes design excellence, and is equipped with class-leading features. Given the backdrop of a transition from BS4 to BS6, Kia entered the market at an opportune moment to lead from the front, and introduce its first product as a BS-VI compliant vehicle.

Kia Sonet, the third product in the brand’s lineup for India will be showcased in its production ready avatar in a World Premiere on August 7, 2020. Launch is scheduled for Sep 2020, just ahead of the upcoming festive season. Sonet ain’t just a smart choice of name but a well thought out strategy for Kia Motors India to further entrap the industry.
The brand hasn’t just had a great start, but it will continue to aim for market dominance. Kia has set out to ‘set new benchmarks in the compact-SUV segment’. A formula that is tried and tested, and has stood the test of time. The compact SUV market in India, though small-ish, never disappoints, and has seen all entrants enjoy some level of success. It’s going to be no different for Kia Motors.
