Kia Seltos beats Hyundai Creta – New best selling SUV in the segment

In spite of being launched towards the end of August, sales of Kia Seltos in the month of Aug 2019 have surpassed all other SUVs in the segment. This has made Kia Seltos the best selling SUV in the segment for the month of Aug 2019.

Sales of Kia Seltos in Aug 2019 stood at 6,236 units. On the second spot was Hyundai Creta with 6,001 units sold. Creta sales have declined by 42%, as a result of Kia Seltos. On the 3rd spot is Mahindra Scorpio with 2,862 units while on the 4th spot is newly launched MG Hector with 2,018 units sold in Aug 2019.

On the 5th spot in the table is Mahindra XUV500 with sales of 968 units. Following the XUV500 is Renault Duster with sales of 967 units for the month. Below is the detailed sales report.

On the 7th spot in the list is Maruti S Cross, who has now posted sales of just 666 units. On the 8th spot is Tata Harrier. From being one of the best selling cars in the segment, Tata Harrier sales are among the lowest in the segment for Aug 2019. Last month only 635 units of Harrier were sold. Decline in Harrier sales is due to more demand for MG Hector and Kia Seltos.

Kia Seltos was launched at a start point of Rs.9.69 lakhs going up to Rs.15.99 for the top end variant. It was not only its price that was an attraction, but also its exterior and interior designs, state of the art connectivity in the form of UVO Connect system with a total of 37 smart features and an array of safety features.

Engine specifications include a 1.4 liter T-GDI petrol engine offering 138 bhp power and 242 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual and 7 speed DSG automatic transmission. The 1.5 liter petrol engine offers 113 bhp power and 144 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual and CVT while the 1.5 liter CRDi diesel engine makes 113 bhp power and 250 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual and 6 speed automatic transmission.
