First owner of the new Kia Seltos in the world, has taken delivery of the brand new SUV in South Korea. Launched earlier this month in South Korea, deliveries of the new Seltos have started. Price ranges from approx Rs 11.2 lakhs to Rs 15.4 lakhs.
In Korea, Seltos is offered with either 1.6 liter petrol or 1.6 liter diesel engine.Only DCT automatic transmission option is on offer. 2WD as well as 4WD is on offer. Seltos is a global SUV. It will next head to India, where the launch is scheduled to take place on 22nd August.
Kia Motors will opens its innings in India with the new Seltos SUV. Pre-bookings of the Kia Seltos have commenced from July 16, at a down payment of Rs.25,000. Kia Seltos enters the mid size SUV segment. It will be presented in two trim options of HT Line and GT Line and in 8 variants HT E, HT K, HT K+, HT X, HT X+, GT K, GT X and GT X+.
Kia Seltos will be the third SUV in India to receive connected car technology, following Venue and Hector. Kia Seltos receives Kia’s UVO Connect, connected car technology with an eSIM which will be offered as complementary for the first 3 years and chargeable thereafter. It gets a total of 37 features divided into four categories of Navigation, Safety and Security, Vehicle Management, Remote Control and Convenience with each being accessible via UVO smartphone application.
Kia Seltos in India, to be presented in 8 monotone and 5 dual tone colour options, will see its exteriors dominated by a signature tiger grille. It also receives LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED fog lamps and LED tail lamps. It sits on 17” alloy wheels and gets red brake calipers and red accents on its sides.
The interiors also get an array of features among which are a 10.25” touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Navigation, a 7” coloured MID system and a 400 watt 8 speaker Bose music system. The Seltos also gets Kia’s UVO system with Bluetooth based remote control mobile app aiding in vehicle tracking, vehicle location sharing, remote start/stop, remote AC controls and tyre pressure monitoring among others.
Engine specifications on the Kia Seltos include a 1.5 liter petrol engine, 1.4 liter turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5 liter diesel engine. All engine options get 6 speed manual transmission as standard. In addition, 1.5 petrol gets IVT, 1.4 petrol gets 7 speed DCT while 1.5 diesel gets 6 AT.
Kia Seltos enters a highly competitive segment wherein it will find itself competing with the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, etc in the mid size SUV segment. Prices are expected to be in the Rs 10-15 lakh range.
