Kia Motors has become the fourth largest automaker in India with Seltos compact SUV amassing over 60,000 units in terms of sales in the past 6 months.
Kia Motors has announced its highest ever monthly sales for January 2020. The company has sold 15,000 units of the Seltos SUV along with 450 units of the new Carnival luxury MPV. To date, the company has sold 60,494 units of the Seltos, thus making Seltos the sixth largest selling compact SUV, beating competition by a good 30 percent.
Just like Seltos, Kia Carnival too is expected to take the market by storm. On the first day of bookings getting opened, Kia received over 1,410 orders. The Kia Carnival will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo tomorrow. Its closest rival will be Toyota Innova Touring Sport.
Kia Carnival will be the company’s flagship model in India upon launch. It is offered in Premium, Prestige and Limousine variants. Power is via a BS6 compliant 2.2 liter CRDi engine offering 200 PS power and 440 Nm torque mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission. It gets three exterior colours of Aurora Black Pearl, Steel Silver and Glacier White Pearl. Dimensions stand at 5,115mm length, 1,985mm width and 1,740mm height with a 3,060mm long wheelbase and boot capacity of 540 liters. Its price is expected to range between Rs. 27 – 36 lakhs.
Following launch of Kia Carnival, the company will introduce Sonet sub 4 meter SUV. It will also be on display at the 2020 Auto Expo as a concept, with sales likely to commence from later this year, by July 2020. Kia Sonet will be based on the Hyundai Venue and will be positioned below the Seltos in company lineup.
Kia Motors will also have Seltos X-Line on display at the 2020 Auto Expo. This same concept was also seen at the 2019 LA Auto Show. It gets high ground clearance, auxiliary lights to deliver better off-roading. Kia stall at the 2020 Auto Expo could also see the Optima K5 premium sedan on display along with global products such as the Soul, Sportage and Telluride.
