With sales of 8,502 units in July 2020 – Kia has become the 5th largest car brand in India
The Indian auto industry, which is facing challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic all through the months of March to June 2020, appears to be noting a revival or sorts. The month of July saw some positive sales being reported by many car brands.
With demand inching ahead as buyers set out to find safer means of personal mobility, and previous order book dispatches as logistics normalise, and dealerships return to business. Use of public transport is limited as per government orders, and while the future is unpredictable, promises of a good monsoon coupled with the upcoming festive season could help stir up sales.
Kia July 2020 Sales
Kia Motors has announced sales of 8,502 units in July 2020. Of the 8,502 units sold by Kia in India for July 2020, 8,270 units were Seltos and remaining 232 units were of Carnival MPV. This makes Seltos, India’s 2nd best-selling SUV for the month. Best selling SUV for July 2020 was Hyundai Creta.
This is a notable performance from Kia, considering the present scenario. Especially so, when compared to sales of 7,200 units in June 2020. June sales itself were a MoM 333 percent increase from 1,661 units sold in May 2020.
In June 2020, refreshed Kia Seltos was launched with 10 new features with the company adding 8 existing features from the top end variants to lower variants. Last month, Kia Motors also achieved a major milestone, clocking 1 lakh vehicle sales in India in a matter of 11 months. These included 97,745 units of Seltos and 3,614 units of Carnival MPV.
The Seltos was launched in 2019 while the Carnival entered Indian markets in February 2020 just a month prior to the lockdown being announced in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of the 1 lakh units sold, over 50,000 units sold in India have the UVO connectivity suite, thus making the automaker a leader in this category as well. Kia Motors India is sculpting a future that is a plentiful display of connected cars for convenience.
The Kia Seltos and Carnival will soon be joined by another Kia offering with the Sonet poised for a world premiere on August 7, 2020. Launch date is as yet unannounced.
Kia Sonet to boost sales
The Sonet has made its entry onto the Kia India online portal. It will be the second ‘Made in India’ car from Kia. It has been officially confirmed for launch this festive season. Positioned in the compact SUV segment, Sonet takes on Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.
Kia Motors India has spruced the overall industry. It’s crisp offerings are not just making their presence known, but the auto manufacturer is vying for top spot. Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, though closely related have done justice to the sibling rivalry vibe. Carnival has created its own segment or atleast redefined the one it finds itself in. With Kia Sonet, the auto manufacturer enters yet another popular segment that has continually seen new entrants, and been receptive of them.
