In spite of making global debut in India, the Kia Seltos has been launched in South Korea first. India launch will take place in the 3rd week of August 2019.
South Korea is the home country of Kia. And Seltos being the new global SUV, it made sense for Kia to launch the Seltos first in South Korea. Price of Kia Seltos in South Korea starts from KRW 19.3 million (approx Rs 11.5 lakhs) for the base variant.
Just like India, bookings of Kia Seltos have opened in South Korea as well. First delivery of Kia Seltos will take place in the first half of July 2019.
Kia Seltos will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the just launched MG Hector. It is slated to be priced between Rs.10-16 lakhs and will come in with a host of powertrain options, unique features and connected car technology yet to be seen on an SUV in its class.
The Kia Seltos in its production format bears a strong resemblance to the SP Concept shown off at the 2018 Auto Expo. It will be offered in 8 monotone exterior color options and 5 dual tone colors and will be dominated by Kia’s famous tiger nose grille.
It will get LED lighting for head and tail lamps, DRLs and fog lamps. Interiors will boast of premium features such as a 10.25” touchscreen infotainment system, an 8 speaker Bose sound system, head up display, 360 degree camera and automatic climate controls along with AC vents at the rear.
Kia Seltos will be the first vehicle in India to come in with three automatic gearbox options and a manual gearbox. It will get a torque converter, CVT and dual clutch transmission along with a 6 speed manual gearbox.
Its engine lineup will include a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine and a 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine. The 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine offers 140 hp power and 242 Nm torque. The 1.5 liter petrol engine is capable of 115 hp power and 144 Nm torque while the 1.5 liter diesel engine makes 115 hp power and 250 Nm torque. All three engines will comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms.
