Kia Seltos SUV prices to increase – Letter to dealers leak details

Kia Seltos price hike

Kia Motors India has announced a price hike for their very first product in the country, the Seltos SUV. The much-awaited and desired Kia Seltos was launched in India back in August 2019 at a starting price of Rs 9.69 lakh ex-showroom for the entry-level petrol manual variant.

The new Kia Seltos price hike for 2020 came as no surprise as the South Korean company had already stated that the current prices were introductory. The company has not shared the exact figure-difference from the current price, but reports suggest it is substantial and applicable across the entire range of variants.

The Kia Seltos is available in ‘16 variants’ (even more if you include the dual-tone units) under two trim packages: Tech Line and GT Line. The GT Line is supposed to be the sportier choice and comes with a few extra cosmetic bits such as red accents, diamond-cut, all-black interiors, etc.

Kia Seltos letter to dealers

The Kia Seltos certainly made an impact on the otherwise dry Indian automotive market. Sales are going strong and you would still be able to see Kia outlets busy with customers at any given time. The current waiting periods are in the range of one to two months, depending on the variant and dealership stock.

One of the primary highlights of Kia’s first made-in-India product is its powertrain choices: 1.5-litre NA petrol (113bhp; 144Nm), 1.5-litre diesel (113bhp, 250Nm) and 1.4-litre turbo petrol (138bhp; 242Nm). While a 6-speed manual is standard across the engine choices, the NA petrol can be opted with a CVT; diesel with a 6-speed torque convertor AT and turbo petrol with a 7-speed DCT. The DCT powertrain provides appreciable driving pleasure, but misses out on paddle-shifts.

The Kia Seltos is definitely a well-rounded SUV. With its impressive looks and feature-loaded packaging, the Seltos has become a highly desirable product among the masses. Furthermore, it drives decently well to satisfy driving enthusiasts. The front-wheel-drive SUV (technically, a compact-crossover) rivals the Hyundai Creta,  Nissan Kicks, Renault, etc.

The current price or the launch price will remain the same until December 31, 2019. Hence, if you wish to wish to buy the Kia Seltos — we assure you that it’s definitely worth shortlisting if you are on the look-out  — there isn’t much time to waste. All Kia Seltos units delivered from the start of 2020 will have a higher price tag.
