The Sonet will measure 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width and 1,647 mm in height. Length of the Sonet is as per expectations, typically how OEMs plan upon their sub 4 metre cars. The more powerful 1 litre turbocharged petrol motor will be able to churn out 120 PS & 172 Nm of max torque. Transmission options available with this motor will be either a 6-speed IMT or a 7-speed DCT. Sonet iMT trims are HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+. Sonet 7DCT trims are HTK+ and GTX+.

Diesel Sonet

The diesel engine will be available in 2 states of tune. The 1.5 litre diesel engine will be dishing out 100 PS & 240 Nm of peak torque when it will be available with a 6-speed MT. The same engine will also be available in a higher state of tune of 115 PS & 250 Nm when it is mated to a 6-speed AT option. Sonet 6MT Diesel variants on offer will be HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+. Sonet 6AT Diesel variants on offer are HTK+ and GTX+.

There will also be dual tone option with white, gold and red. The orange colour, which has been spied on test mules, is not on offer.

Talking more about the Sonet, the compact SUV will be a loaded vehicle. Technically, the Sonet will be sharing a lot with its South Korean counterpart, the Hyundai Venue. In the market, it will be competing with already established cars like Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 300 and Hyundai Venue.

In the future, other competitors like Renault Kiger, Toyota Urban Cruiser (based upon Vitara Brezza) and Nissan Magnite too will be trying to woo the same set of customers. The best selling vehicles in the segment clock monthly sales of around 8-10K vehicles per month. Kia too will be looking at similar numbers once sales start in the coming weeks.
