The Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition features a blacked-out theme with eight different colour options
‘Black’ or ‘dark’ editions of cars have been a trend in the last few years. Considering the positive response from customers, most OEMs have started capitalizing on the same. Joining the bandwagon now is Kia Motors with the unique 2021MY Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition.
Rather than launching the special edition Telluride mid-size SUV only in the obvious choice of black, the South Korean automaker has decided to do something different. Customers can choose the new Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition in eight colour choices (including a few exclusive shades): Wolf Gray, Gravity Gray, Sangria, Dark Moss, Black Copper, Ebony Black, Everlasting Silver and Snow White Pearl.
Sean Yoon, President & CEO of Kia Motors North America, commented that the Telluride Nightfall is aimed for customers looking forward to a “more assertive and premium choice” among family vehicles and ‘weekend adventurers’. He added that Kia Motors’ “biggest and boldest” product will witness greater desirability in this special edition.
Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition Features
The Nightfall Edition is based on select Telluride trims such as EX AWD (with Premium package), SX Prestige and SX AWD. In its highest format, the Kia Telluride Nightfall Edition sports exclusive black 20-inch 7-spoke wheels, black lug nuts, black centre caps, modified radiator grille, gloss-black greenhouse trim, roof rails, skid plates and more.
Meanwhile, the regular Kia Telluride has already got an impressive list of features. This extends to an 8.0-inch touchscreen, 18-inch machine-cut wheels, eight airbags, UVO link Telematics, Rear Occupant Assist and several driving assistance systems.
Kia Telluride Engine Specs
The Kia Telluride, winner of the ‘2020 World Car of the Year (WCOTY)’ award as well as the ‘North American Utility Vehicle 2020’ title, draws power from a 3.8-litre Lambda DOHC GDI V6 petrol engine. It churns out 287bhp @ 6,000rpm and 355Nm @ 5,200rpm while mated to an 8-speed TC automatic transmission.
Power is sent to all four wheels via an Active On-Demand AWD system (front-wheel-biased) with AWD Lock and Snow Mode. It also features Torque Vectoring Cornering Control (TVCC).
Launch Timeline
Kia Motors plans to launch the Telluride Nightfall in the US this summer at a price tag of almost $45,000 (~ Rs 34 lakh). At the moment, Kia Motors India has not shared any details regarding the Telluride’s debut on our market even though Hyundai Motor India is considering the Palisade (based on the same platform).
