Koenigsegg Jesko claims 482 kmph top speed – New fastest car in the world

Koenigsegg Jesko is a superfast car, boasting of the latest in technology. Slated to be the last Koenigsegg without any form of electric powertrain, the Jesko will be limited to just 125 units. It could easily hold the record for the fastest road legal car in the world with a top speed of 482 kmph top speed, breaking the earlier record of Koenigsegg Agera RS which claimed a top speed of 447 kmph.

The faster and highly technologically advanced Koenigsegg Jesko will come in with a price tag of $ 3 million with deliveries set to commence in 2020. Built on the same Agera platform, the Jesko is bigger in size and boasts of a more contemporary design. It is 40mm longer and 22mm higher than the Agera which results in added leg and head room in its cabin; with its wrap around windscreen offering a more expansive view of the exteriors.

Koenigsegg Jesko is powered by a twin turbocharged 5.0 liter V8 engine with a lightweight, flat plane crankshaft and new intake system along with 3 fuel injectors per cylinder. This engine allows for 1281hp power at 7,800 rpm and 1106 lb/ft (1,500 Nm) torque at 5,100 rpm. The engine gets mated to a new Light Speed 9 speed multi clutch automatic transmission developed in-house. The Jesko also gets Koenigsegg Electronic Differential (KED) and Koenigsegg Gearbox Control Module (KGCM) with Ultimate Power on Demand (UPOD). The gearbox is able to change cogs at any speed in a matter of 20 milliseconds.

Though no acceleration specifications are revealed as on date, the automaker confirms two different configurations – one for track and the other for top speed. The incorporation of several aerodynamic features takes top speed up to 482 kmph. This also includes an enormous automatically adjustable rear wing that is able to produce 2,200 pounds of downward pressure at extremely high speeds. It also gets four wheel steering for better manoeuvring.

In keeping with its race car stance, the Koenigsegg Jesko gets updated adaptive Ohlins dampers at all four corners, horizontally mounted damper on each axle and a rear wheel steering system that brings about improved stability at high speeds and efficient agility at lower speeds. It sits on lighter 20” front and 21” rear wheels in forged aluminum and carbon fiber fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires as standard measuring 265/35R-20 in front and 325/30R-21 at the rear while Michelin’s latest Pilot Sport Cup 2 R rubber is offered as an option.

Interiors are seen with the latest in technology with adjustable pedals, leather or micro suede upholstery, an analog G-Force meter on the dashboard, advanced driver interface with a 5.0” steering mounted haptic touchscreen infotainment system and a 9.0” central infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. Koenigsegg Jesko will enter production sometime next year with price set to be at around $3 million (Rs 21 crore), ex-sh.
