It was in 2014 that KTM launched its flagship 1290 Super Duke R naked sports bike. The motorcycle took the segment by storm as it reigned supreme in the super naked market. At the ongoing EICMA Show, KTM has revealed an even more versatile and refreshed version of the 1290 Duke R, that is set to draw even more attention in the biking arena.
New 1290 Super Duke R or as KTM prefers its name to be ‘The Beast 2.0’ is seen with a host of visual updates. It gets the largest headlight with new LED headlamp in a split design.
Distinctive body paneling gives the bike a more muscular stance while on board features include a new multifunction TFT dashboard, keyless ignition and KTM MY RIDE multimedia system. This system allows the rider to connect his smartphone and media player to the TFT display and access a number of functions.

Front the safety point of view, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R gets MTC traction control, Bosch Cornering ABS and 3 selectable rider modes. Optional packs include Performance and Action packs with features as per buyers demands and preferences. Handle bars are also slightly wider and have been moved lower and forward for sporty riding.
1290 Super Duke R is powered by a 1,301 cc LC 8 twin cylinder engine offering 177hp against 173 hp seen on its earlier counterpart. Cylinder head and intake has been revamped while its 48mm WP suspension has been stiffened for added handling while it can be adjusted for rebound and pre load. cruise control and a new keyless system are also a part of the updates features seen on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R.
