The two specific maps will be offered by KTM India for Duke Series which includes Duke 200 and Duke 390 will need to be fitted by the company’s service centre. Only one map will be effective on one bike at a time. With riders switching between city riding and performance maps, further assistance of service centres will be needed.
KTM India will be offering these two engine maps both to current owners of the two Duke bikes and to new buyers as well. The engine maps will be soon made available to company’s Probiking service outlets across the country and will be suitable installed by company service technicians, well versed with its installation techniques. These engine maps are fed into the bike by running diagnostics on the bike’s ECU, tuning it suitably and digitally so as to comply with a certain mode. The installation of these maps may have an effect on the way in which the fuel is injected, brake balance, throttle response and idling time, etc.
KTM India has other plans in the offing with RC200 and RC390 set for launch in India by mid 2014. The company is also in the process of setting up “Orange Assist”, a road side assistance program offering 24×7 services to those who subscribe to this program. A special flat bed van will be sent to the breakdown site offering fuel delivery and medical assistance over a 100 km radius of all authorized LRM centres in the country.
