Dealer also mentioned that official booking will commence only on a day before or after launch. Unofficial bookings are not being taken by all dealers, some have started at advance payment of Rs. 30,000. Interestingly, there are some dealerships who suggest KTM RC 390 will arrive only by end of 2014 or early 2015. It is apparent that KTM maintains tight lips and wants to take us all by surprise. The dealer added that test ride units will not be available immediately after launch and waiting period will be about a month.
Since KTM Duke 390 and RC 390 share same 373.2 cc water cooled engine sending 44 PS maximum power and 35 Nm peak torque out, customers will have a good idea of what RC 390 will be like on road, and they would have no problem going ahead with booing before meeting the ride in person. Same goes with case of KTM RC 200, until full faired versions arrive at showrooms, customers will be given Duke bikes for test ride. KTM Duke 200 / RC 200 houses 199.5 cc liquid cooled engine churning out 25.8 PS max. power and 19 Nm peak torque. Both engines, meaning 200 and 400, will be mated to 6 speed transmission.
There is no information on price of KTM RC 390 and RC 200 yet, we stick to our speculation that former would be priced between Rs. 2.1 and Rs. 2.3 lakhs and latter between Rs. 1.5 lakhs and 1.8 lakhs.
