KTM will be launching RC200 in India first and this will be followed by RC390 later this year. Both KTM and Bajaj will be sharing technology while the bikes will be manufactured at Bajaj plant in Chakan which is also where Duke 200 and 390 are being produced.
Duke 200 and 390 are selling well in the country and KTM could gain from this success by launching the RC series in India. The big thing to watch out for is price. Both the RC models are fully faired and hence will be more expensive than their Duke counterparts.
KTM RC 200 could come in at a price between INR. 1,40,000-1,55,000 and will share many of its components with Duke 200 including engine in the form of a liquid cooled 200cc mil offering 25 bhp and 19 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed sequential box. It will also get projector headlights to give it a more aggressive stance.
KTM RC390 was seen on display at 2013 EICMA in Milan. It is a fully faired version of Duke 390 seen with angular design on faring and dual headlamps. It is powered by a 373cc single cylinder water cooled engine offering 43 bhp and mated to a 6 speed gearbox. RC 390 has a tank capacity of 10-litres and weighs 147 kerb which gives it excellent power to weight ratio, while pricing in India could be around INR 2.3-2.6 lakhs.
