Lamborghini Asterion Hybrid Paris 2014 (1)Lamborghini Asterion LPI910-4 Concept car is the company’s first ever petrol electric hybrid model that is completely developed in-house along with VW Group. Named Asterion, after half-man, half-bull creature from Greek mythology, the new two seater sports car receives a new 5.2 liter V10 engine producing 610 PS peak power driving its rear wheels while mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission and an electric motor producing a combined 910 PS.

One of these two electric motors is placed within the transmission to power rear wheels while the other is situated on the front axle to sent power to front wheels. Asterion also receives a lithium ion battery mounted within the tunnel. These batteries in unison allow the Asterion to accelerate from 0 to 100 in 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 kmph. Fuel efficiency stands at 4.2 liters per 100km (23.80 kmpl) while emissions are at 98 g/km.

Designed in-house at Lamborghini Centro Stile and seen in a Blue Elektra glittered exterior, Lamborghini Asterion LPI910-4 Concept car sits on 20” inch wheels in the front and 21” at the rear. Effective cooling is facilitated due to part titanium grids over the front air intakes which also enhance efficiency. ‘LP’ in its name stands for ‘longitudinal posterior’ due to the longitudinal mid rear position of its engine while ‘I’ stands for ‘ibrido’ Italian for hybrid.
