Ever wondered what will be the outcome when supercars powered by V8, V10, V12 and W16 respectively, compete without any speed limits on a secluded airstrip? In an all new episode of Head 2 Head, Automobile Magazine’s Jason Camissa offers us a mouth watering drag race which sees the McLaren MP412C V8 compete with the Lexus LFA V10, winner of which competes with the all new Lamborghini Aventador V12, which is also the fastest Lamborghini till date. The winner of this drag race gets to compete with the fastest car in the world Bugatti Veyron W16.
Talking about these cars, McLaren MP412C is the first sportscar built by British high performance automotive manufacturer, McLaren Automotive since the legendary McLaren F1. MP4-12C was launched last year and is powered by a 3.8L V8 twin turbo generating 592 bhp and 601 Nm torque. Top speed is 205 mph (330.5 kmph), 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) acceleration time is 3.3 seconds and price is $229,000.
Japanese car maker Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus launched LFA sportscar in 2010. Powered by a 4.8L V10 LFA generates 552 bhp and 480 Nm torque. Lexus engineers preferred a V10 instead of a V8 with equivalent displacement because a V10 has the ability to rev higher and at the same time has a better reciprocating mass than a V12. Lexus LFA has a topspeed of 202 mph (325 kmph) and 0-62 mph acceleration figures of 3.6 seconds. Base price of Lexus LFA is at $375,000.
Italy’s Lamborghini launched Aventador in 2011 and comes with a price tag of $380,000. Being the fastest Lamborghini till date, Aventador is powered by a 6.5L V12 generating 690 bhp and 690 Nm torque. Aventador has a top speed of 217 mph (349.2 kmph) and 0-62 mph acceleration is achieved in just 2.9 seconds.
Coming to the Veyron, ever since its launch back in 2005, hardly any other car has come close to achieve what the French car maker Bugatti has managed to achieve with the Veyron. Powered by a humongous 8.0L W16 quad turbocharged that generates 1,006 bhp and 1,250 Nm torque, Veyron has a topspeed of 253.81 mph (408.47 kmph) and 0-62 mph acceleration figures of 2.46 seconds. Bugatti Veyron is priced at $1.7 million. Top Gear has awarded Bugatti Veyron the title of Car of the Decade.
The currently available version of Veyron called SuperSport was launched in 2010 and is powered by the same engine as its predecessor but generates 1,1,84 bhp and 1,500 Nm torque. Bugatti Veyron SuperSport, is the car in the video here. It has a topspeed of 267.856 mph (431.072 kmph) and a price tag of $2.7 million.
The total value of these four supercars here in the video is a whopping $4 million. There would be many who would love to have all four of these supercars in their garage, but if you don’t have a big enough garage, this video might just help you select the one you always wanted.
