New Lamborghini hypercar teased (video) – An 819bhp track-only monster

New Lamborghini Aventador-based V12 track weapon is a limited-run Squadra Corse product

Lamborghini’s racing division, Squadra Corse has teased their latest track-only monster — an 830ps (819bhp) limited-run track-only V12 monster. Nothing much is known about the hypercar except that it crosses new boundaries in terms of performance, aerodynamics and lightweighting (alongside being ridiculously expensive). In order to buy this car, one would have to be an existing Lamborghini owner with a high profile in the supercar marque’s customer database.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse had already announced its plans to debut in summer of 2020. However, the current state of affairs has created a lot of confusion in global business operations and it remains to be known if the brand can go forward as planned. Now, Lamborghini has revealed a new video of its upcoming unnamed hypercar in its near-production avatar.

The V12 power plant is same 6.5-litre NA unit that powers Aventador but re-engineered and track-bred to churn out bonkers performance. The video also highlights extensive use of carbon-fibre and advanced aero components. This includes a gigantic rear wing, roof scoop, dual-vent bonnet, active winglets and exclusion of non-essentials to bring down weight as much as possible.

The powertrain features a unique ‘self-locking differential’ for superior control and power delivery. Large centre-locking wheels are shod with the latest from Pirelli’s high-performance tyres. All these acquire just a small portion of a long list of sophisticated mechanical and electronic equipment.

Hardcore Lamborghini fans would also notice that the exhaust note is a bit different from traditional ‘Aventador howl’. Even though it’s not that obvious, the hypercar does not look familiar to Aventador or its latest SVJ variant. It seems slightly smaller and to an extent, like a new Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo model with a V12.

New hypercar might share its design DNA with Lamborghini Sian FKP 37, which is the first production hybrid from Lamborghini. The Sian’s 6.5-litre NA V12 + 48V ‘super-capacitor’ hybrid powertrain delivers a combined output of around 808bhp and 760Nm of torque. Power is sent to the all four wheels via a 7-speed single-clutch automatic.

World is going through difficult times with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, Lamborghini’s very own Italy is one of the worst-affected nations with many surrendering their lives to the virus with each passing day. Lamborghini had already closed its main manufacturing facility for a brief period. Hence, this new teaser brings some hope and good spirit to Italians as well as the world of automobiles.
