The Indian National Capital Region is turning out to be unlucky for Lamborghini supercars of late. A few years ago, a super exclusive Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni edition got totaled, killing the driver in the process. This was followed by a valet driver crashing a Gallardo Spyder at a 5-star hotel in New Delhi last year.
The bad news doesn’t stop there! A wrecked Murcielago was found ditched by its driver near New Delhi’s India Gate earlier this year and now, a poor Lamborghini Gallardo caught fire near Badarpur area of the capital. Given that supercars are extremely rare in the country, such losses in regular intervals are disheartening to say the least.
Images of the burning Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 have started circulating on social media and a video of the mishap has also emerged. Initial reports indicate that the fire emanated from the Italian supercar’s engine bay as it was being driven from the service centre.
The driver managed to escape unhurt, only to watch his beloved steed getting engulfed by flames. By the time the fire was doused, the 560 PS 5.2-litre rear-mounted V10 normally aspirated engine was reduced to ashes. We hope, a detailed investigation by Lamborghini would reveal the exact cause of the fire.
