On the eve of 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, at the Volkswagen Group Media Night, the all-new Lamborghini Huracan Spyder has made its global debut. Identical to its coupe variant, the Spyder has replaced the metal roof with a soft-top which can be opened or closed at the touch of a button. The electro-hydraulic unit allows the newly developed soft-top to open or close in just 17 seconds. You can operate the soft-top at stand still or at speeds of up to 50 kmph.
Power to the Huracan Spyder comes from the same 5.2L V10 naturally aspirated engine, same on board the Huracan coupe. Output too remains unchanged at 610 PS at 8,250 rpm and 560 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm. All this power is transferred to the car’s all wheel drive system by a reworked dual clutch automatic gearbox.
With a dry weight of just 1,542 kg, Lamborghini Huracan Spyder claims a 0-100 kmph time of just 3.4 seconds (3.2 sec for the coupe), 0-200 kmph time of 10.2 seconds and a top speed of 324 kmph. All this while having hair-dryer treatment, literally. As for the car’s quieteness, Lamborghini it is as good as the coupe, with the roof down.
Technically, the Huracan Spyder is a huge step forward, when compared to its older gen (Gallardo Spyder). Lamborghini engineers have managed to make the body of Huracan Spyder 40% stiffer, which helps in sharper control and better drivability. At the same time, the downforce has been increased by 50%, giving you more control at higher speeds.
