Lamborghini racing series hopefully to be conducted at Buddh International Circuit in India next year
Lamborghini have commenced racing series in Asia. The Italian sports car manufacturers held first round of Asia races in Malaysia last month and judging by its appeal, demand and all round success, Lamborghini would like to hold such events in other Asian countries. Talking about other Asian countries, India is right up on the list of Lamborghini to conduct their racing series.
Super Trophy Asia is currently underway which is being conducted on similar lines as Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series in Europe. The event is a huge success and Lamborghini is eager to spread their racing series around the globe, including India. Early July will see the Asia Super Trophy in Japan while China will follow next before they head of to Taiwan. Lamborghini will be participating with 18 cars in Europe and two additional cars in Asia.
Company spokespersons stated that from the marketing point of view, India is a strategic market for such events and hence is looked upon as a potential contender in the upcoming Super Trofeo in Asia. There is a possibility that such events will be hosted in India in 2013.
Maurizio Reggiani, Director of Research and Development, Lamborghini, said, “We have started the Asia Super Trophy (the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia Series), in the same format (six rounds) that we have in Europe and it was a big success. In the beginning of July, we’ll be in Japan and after that we’ll move to China again and to Taiwan. We have 18 cars in Europe and 18 plus two cars in Asia. From the marketing point of view, India is a strategic market for us and because of this, we look at India as a potential place for our Super Trofeo in Asia. We want to look at the possibility of hosting a round in India next year.”
