One may blame the pop-culture or the movies, but drag races are a big deal in the fraternity of automotive enthusiasts. Drag races become a testing ground for car lovers to prove the capability of their machines. However, these events shall always be held in a controlled & private environment. In a recent face-off, DragTimes managed to pit the Lamborghini Urus against the Tesla Model X P100D.
The quarter-mile event took place at the Palm Beach International Raceway and the 2 raced against each other 4 times. The results were pretty close and the winner was majorly decided based upon which car had a perfect launch. Watch the video to find out who wins the face-off!
The Urus draws its power from a 641hp – 4 litre twin turbocharged V8 which also dishes out 850 Nm of peak torque. The Urus employs an electro-hydraulically controlled 8-speed automatic gearbox which helps it to reach 100 km/h in just 3.6 second and 200 km/h in just 12.8 seconds.
The Model X zips around with its 2 electric motors which jointly produce 588hp and 1247 Nm of torque while managing a 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. Even though the Tesla can achieve a faster acceleration on paper, it still is around 350kgs heavier than the Lamborghini.
The Urus achieved the best overall quarter-mile time at 11.234 seconds at 193.3 km/h while the Tesla achieved a timing of 11.296 seconds at 189.3 km/h, on a different run on the same day. DragTimes also claims that this happens to be the best quarter-mile time record for Urus, across the globe!
In case you intend to do a similar face-off in your local race-track, Urus is available at Lamborghini stores across the country though you will have to wait for some years before Tesla finally decides to venture in the Indian market.
