Land Rover Discovery Sport India launch in August 2015
Land Rover Discovery Sport will arrive in India via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route and get built at the company’s assembly facility in Pune.
Land Rover Discovery Sport for India is said to feature only one engine, the 2.2 litre four-cylinder diesel mill, but in two tunes – 147 bhp and 187 bhp max power. The motor will be mated to 9 speed automatic transmission. According to reports, Indian market will not receive the 2.0 litre petrol engine for Discovery Sport.
Source also suggests that only the high-end Discovery Sport HSE variant will be sold in in India. The model will be equipped with features like xenon headlights, panoramic sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, leather seat upholstery, dual-zone climate control system, front seats with electric adjustment, six USB charging sockets and four 12V power sockets. It is unclear if pedestrian Airbag and autonomous emergency braking features will be offered in Indian spec Land Rover Discovery Sport.
JLR Discovery Sport will compete with Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes M Class, Volvo XC60 and the like, with a serious advantage of featuring seven seats unlike five in all the rivals.
