Land Rover Discovery Sport has been launched in India at a starting price of INR 46.1 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This makes it the most affordable Land Rover in the country. The launch event was graced by India’s World Cup winning cricket player, Yuvraj Singh and India’s first Formula 1 driver, Narain Karthikeyan. Both are seen in the image above with Rohit Suri, Head, JLR India and the enw Discovery Sport.
All prices are ex-showroom Mumbai (pre-Octroi). The car is offered with 3 years/1,00,000 km warranty with 3 years service pack.
Engine and gearbox
The premium SUV for India comes with the older 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which is available in two states of tune. The lower TD4 version pumps out 150 PS and 400 Nm of torque while the range-topping SD4 version boasts of 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque. A 9-speed ZF automatic transmission is standard across the range. The SUV comes standard with Terrain Response system.
Land Rover comes packed with upmarket features to make a strong case for itself. Standard features across the range include Terrain Response, Hill Descent Control, ABS, Electronic Traction Control, Roll Stability Control, Dynamic Stability Control, power adjusted heated wing mirrors, fog lamps, 60:40 split second row seats, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 6-airbags.
The fully loaded HSE Luxury trim offers a fixed panoramic roof with contrast color, Adaptive Dynamics MagneRide suspension, Xenon headlamps with LED signature, automatic wiper and headlamps, tyre pressure monitoring system, Windsor leather seats, 10 way electrically adjustable front seats with memory, optional third row seats, cruise control, parking aid with rear view camera, park assist, two zone climate control with air quality sensing, mood lighting, Meridian surround system with 17 speakers and so on.
The car is available in seven exterior color options namely Fuji White, Indus Silver, Scotia Grey, Firenze Red, Aintree Green, Loire Blue, Santorini Black. Interior trims are offered in three theme options – Ebony, Almond/Ebony and Tan/Ebony – depending on the variants and exterior color options.
