As the MercedesCup tournaments get underway from July 7 to 15, 2012 at Stuttgart, Germany, LIQUI MOLY, specialists in motor oil and additives will be there to edge competitors on. The motor oil and lubricant specialists have agreed to a four year deal to become the second tier premium sponsors of the ATP World Tour 250 competition.

MercedesCup is an ATP World Tour 250 series tennis tournament and has been held every year since 1916 in Stuttgart, Germany. It is played on clay courts. The tournament is famous for awarding the title winner with a Mercedes car in addition to prize money.

Janko Tipsarevic and Tommy Haas will be taking part on Centre Court in these tournaments in July. The winner will be categorized among other top Mercedes Cup winners such as Bjorn Borg, Ivan Lendle, Andre Agassi and Michael Stitch, etc. The motto of these tournaments is “Serve to the Future”, an adage which also portrays the future prospects and dreams of LIQUI MOLY as top lubricant brand in Germany who are not only striving to be best in their domestic markets but all across the globe.

News release: Company is Premium Sponsor of the MercedesCup in Stuttgart

Top stars such as Janko Tipsarevic and Tommy Haas as well as ‘young guns’ from the international tennis scene will be smashing small, felt balls over the net at the MercedesCup. And the German motor oil and additive specialist LIQUI MOLY will be there, too. It is the Premium Sponsor of the tournament running from 7 to 15 July in Stuttgart, Germany.

The MercedesCup is considered to be one of the most prestigious clay-court tournaments in the world and is a vital part of the ATP World Tour. Next to young players, who are still looking to earn their worth in the big business of the small tennis ball, established acts such as Janko Tipsarevic and Tommy Haas will be taking part on Centre Court this coming July. The tournament winner will take his place along such illustrious names as Björn Borg, Ivan Lendl, Andre Agassi, Michael Stich, Thomas Muster, Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin Del Potro. The title challengers include young Australian star Bernard Tomic as well as Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia and Juan Monaco from Argentina, who both reached the last 16 at the French Open.

The tournament is being held with the motto “Serve to the Future”. A maxim that also covers LIQUI MOLY’s goals. “As the most popular motor oil brand in Germany we do not just want to be at the top in our domestic market: we want to be top all over the world. That’s why international events are of great importance to us,” says Peter Baumann. He is responsible for Marketing at LIQUI MOLY. In Stuttgart the brand will be shown on the boards along the back and sides of the court; i.e. in prime view of the cameras.

Along with 100 representatives of the domestic and international print media, who will be reporting from Stuttgart, the MercedesCup will be broadcast worldwide to 20 countries. A seven-figure audience is guaranteed, as proven by previous tournaments. But it was not just the TV presence that was decisive for involvement in Stuttgart – it was also the environment and the industry exclusivity, Peter Baumann emphasises: “Our company logo can be seen on advertising boards alongside the global brand of Mercedes-Benz. This is of great importance to us, particularly in important foreign markets. And we are the exclusive motor oil brand of the tournament.”
