Montezemolo dedicates Automotive Hall of Fame award to Michael Schumacher

On 23rd July 2015, Luca di Montezemolo will be inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame at gala awards ceremony in Detroit. As soon as the former Ferrari boss learnt about his new award, he announced that he will be dedicating this award to his friend Michael Schumacher. Luca di says that without Michael, this would not have been possible.

Schumacher is the most successful Formula 1 driver in the history of the sport. He has won 91 Grand Prix races, of which 72 were for Ferrari. Michael Schumacher who was called a Driver’s Drive and regaled as the greatest racer by the likes of Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda has been named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice.

In 2002 Schumi broke the record as the only driver in F1 history to finish at the top three in every race of the season. He is recipient of many F1 driver records for most championships, race victories, fastest laps, pole positions and most races won in a single season. In 2004, he won 13 out of 18 races for Ferrari. However, sadly, in a horrific accident in December 2013, while skiing in the French Alps, Schumacher was injured. He remains in coma till date.

Apart from Luca di Montezemolo, there are three other individuals who will be inducted into the same league. They are Roger Penske, founder and Chairman of Penske Corporation, Ratan N. Tata, founder of Tata Motors and Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, and Elwood Haynes, Co-Founder of Haynes-Apperson Automobile Co.
