India’s first Made in India e-rickshaw E-RAAJA launch price INR 1.15 lakh including taxes

E-Raaja is OK Play India Limited’s attempt at tapping the INR 50,000 crore E-Rickshaw market in India. Launched today, the Pollution Free Green E-Rickshaw from OK Play called E-Raaja is priced from INR 1.15 lakh to INR 1.25 lakh (including taxes).

To be manufactured at their facilities in Sohna (Haryana) and in Ranipet (Tamil Nadu), OK Play India says that E-Raaja is indigenously designed, developed and made in India, making it first of its kind in the country.

OK Play India believes that the demand for electric rickshaws is still at a very nascent stage in India. But over the next few years, it will grow exponentially. This is why they have readied their two plants to produce 3 lakh units of E-Raaja electric rickshaws in a year. Also strategically located, the one in Haryana will cater to the needs of North India while the one in Tamil Nadu will cater to the needs of South India.

OK Play India is a BSE listed company which is a well known toy brand. They are also the largest manufacturer of playground equipment, children’s furniture, fun-stations, and plastic-moulded toys in India. Thanks to this, they are also the leaders in the field of Roto-Moulding technology. It is this technology that produces high-density plastic components for the auto industry, and it is the same plastic which you can see on board the electric rickshaw E-Raaja.

USP of E-Raaja is that it has over 90% components which are locally made, unlike other e-rickshaws which have 95% components made in China. Speaking about target audience, OK Play says that currently there are over 1 crore cycle rickshaws and over 75 lakh rickshaws in India. With the government focusing on clean energy, theoretically they believe that a good enough chunk of these numbers will be converted into e-rickshaws in the future.

Designed to carry 400 kgs (four passengers plus driver), E-Raaja also comes with a free insurance cover. In addition to this, if there are break-downs, OK Play says that they have plans to create a network of garages and break-down zones so that the owner of E-Raaja does not have to go through much trouble. Battery capacity, charging time and range have not been revealed.
