DC Avanti sportscar

Dressed in a robe of pink camouflage, a DC Avanti was spotted on test giving us a sneak peak into India’s first sports car on road fueling hopes the car will finally launch after remaining in concept stage for long enough.

DC Avanti sportscarDC Design showcased Avanti concept, India’s premiere designed sports car at 2012 Auto Expo and again at 2014 Auto Expo in February this year. This year DC Avanti has been spotted actively testing while the company hopes to go into production this year at a price between INR 25-30 lakhs. Though launch has been delayed, DC Design will produce the Avanti from their plant in Talegaon, near Pune making it the first and cheapest sports car on sale in India.

DC Avanti get power from a 2.0 litre, four cylinder, turbocharged engine with direct injection and Variable Valve Timing. This is a Ford sourced EcoBoost engine that will generate 243 PS of peak power and 366 Nm of peak torque while being mated to a six speed manual transmission to reach top speed of 250 kmph. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph will be in under 7 seconds. Engine being Euro 5 compliant, it can upgraded to new Euro 6 norms, thus paving the way for DC Avanti overseas sales.

DC Avanti will measure a total of 4623mm, 1967mm and 1213 mm in length, width and height respectively and will be based on a tubular space frame chassis while weighing a total of 1562 kgs. Once 4000 units of one variant are sold, limited edition DC Avanti will be phased out and a new model will be introduced. DC Avanti spyshots here give us a realistic view of a made in India sportscar targeted at young executives who are keen about sports and luxury cars.
