Mahindra celebrates production of 5 millionth car by forming a 4 km long human chain
Mahindra and Mahindra, leading SUV makers in the country, has achieved a milestone of manufacturing 50 lakh vehicles. The occasion was marked with Pravin Shah, Chief Executive Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra going around in a Jeep produced from the company’s Kandivali plant. He was cheered on by the 4 km long human chain formed by 3,000 workers who made this achievement possible.
2014 has been a noteworthy year for M&M. The next generation Scorpio made its entry,while the year closed on a favourable note when the company reported a 5% growth. During December 2014, the company sold a total of 17,311 units of passenger vehicles as against 16,436 units sold in December 2013. The company’s Truck and Bus division also registered growth of 92% with 843 units sold.
2015 holds of great importance for Mahindra. It is this year that they will launch a range of new UV’s based on new platforms and new engines. They will also enter new segments, and launch their first petrol powered SUV. All in all, Mahindra can only expect to grow even further in 2015.
