Mahindra Adventure Vineyard Escape – 2 days, 25 vehicles, 400 kms, and a lot of wine
Mahindra Adventure successfully completed yet another of their amazing Escape’s in Nasik earlier this week. This time the adventure was to escape to the famous vineyards in Nasik, the wine capital of the country. Mahindra Adventure Vineyard Escape consisted of 25 Mahindra vehicles including XUV500, Scorpio, Bolero, Thar, and some modified Mahindra vehicles.
The journey started from Mahindra’s plant in Kandivali, Mumbai on Saturday morning. A convoy of 25 Mahindra cars, fitted with ham radio, was flagged off in presence of media and fans, from the Mahindra plant. Participants included Mahindra vehicle owners, adventure enthusiasts, and auto journalists from various publications. Mahindra Vineyard Escape was organized in association with Buddh International Circuit.
After hustling and bustling through the Mumbai traffic, finally the convoy was on the scenic route of Borivali – Thane – Khodala – Paine Sanjegao – Nasik. This is the same route where some of the memorable Indian car rallies have taken place in the 80’s. WISA – Western India Sports Association helped Mahindra Adventure to successfully organize Vineyard Escape. WISA officials and Mahindra Adventure team specifically chose this route in order to offer participants maximum sense of enthusiasm.
Participants visited a total of 5 vineyards, Zampa Vineyard, York Vineyard, Vintage Vineyard, Renaissance Vineyard, and Sula Vineyard. At all these vineyards, Mahindra Adventure had organized wine tasting and tour, which helped participants understand the process of winemaking.
The highlight of the Vineyard Escape, apart from understanding wines, was Mahindra TSD Rally. Mahindra TSD Rally was flagged off on Sunday morning from the Taj Gateway Hotel. TSD Rally required participants to keep a track on their Time, Speed and Distance as this was not a rally where the first team to reach the finish line was declared as the winner. In fact there was time penalty for teams reaching before time!
In the end, Mr Abhimanyu Lal and Mrs Pallavi Lal were declared as winner of the Mahindra Adventure Vineyard Escape TSD Rally. Mr and Mrs Lal have been driving a Mahindra vehicle for the past 7 years. Later same day at Sula Vineyard, Mahindra Adventure Team organized a gala dinner and felicitated all Vineyard Escape participants. The evening was brought to an end with a live performance from a Pune based rock-band, D–Idols.
Before the start of the event, Mr. Vivek Nayer, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “In keeping with our promise of providing adrenaline pumping challenges under Mahindra Adventure, we are pleased to launch the Vineyard Escape 2011. Such TSD rallies will leverage the changing aspirations and lifestyles of the youth of India. Further, the journey also aims to celebrate Incredible India by connecting exotic locales of our country in tough and rugged Mahindra vehicles. So here’s your chance to start your engine and ‘get ready to get lost’ in the country’s wine making region. Needless to say these events suit the ‘tough and rugged’ DNA of Mahindra vehicles.”
Mahindra Adventure organizes such events throughout the year across all corners of the country. In all, Mahindra Adventure has successfully organized more than 80 such escapes. This year itself, Mahindra Adventure has successfully completed Monastery Escape (Leh, Ladakh), Spice Escape (Kerala) and Vineyard Escape (Nasik). Their last escape for this year is Royal Escape (Rajasthan) which will take place from the 27th Dec 2011 to 1st Jan 2012. Unfortunately, bookings have been closed for Royal Escape.
