Alturas means ‘height’ or ‘pinnacle’. For Mahindra, their new SUV is positioned in the high end SUV segment. New Mahindra Alturas will go on sale in India from November 24. This exclusive SUV promises state of the art luxuries, bold design, luxurious interiors and enhanced off-road performance along with the best in safety and comforts.
To be offered in two variants, Mahindra Alturas G2 2WD and G4 4WD get detailed in terms of equipment and safety features. Both the trims get powered by the same 2.2 liter diesel engine offering 180 hp power at 4,000 rpm and 450 Nm torque between 1,600rpm and 2,600 rpm mated to a Mercedes sourced 7 speed automatic transmission with the G2 getting rear wheel drive and the G4 receiving an all wheel drive system.
In terms of equipment and features, the Mahindra Alturas G2 will be seen with dual chamber HID projector headlamps, LED DRLs with integrated turn indicators and 18” alloy wheels. Its interiors will be seen with black and grey Nappa leather upholstery, a multi information display unit, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function and a 9.2” touchscreen infotainment offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Mahindra Alturas G4 will be a four wheel drive variant and will also get dual chamber HID projector headlamps and LED DRLs with integrated turn indicators. Interiors will be done up in a black and tan color scheme, a colored multi information display, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function and a 9.2” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In terms of safety, the Alturas G4 gets electronic parking brake, a sunroof and hands free boot opening.
Both variants get standard safety features of ABS, EBD, 9 airbags, hill start assist and vehicle stability control. To be assembled from CKD kits from South Korea, the body structure will boast of 63% 1.5 Gpa-grade high-strength steel.
The new Mahindra Alturas flagship SUV will be sold through designated company outlets that have been named ‘World of SUVs’. Once launched in India, the Mahindra Alturas will compete against the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Isuzu MU-X.’
