Mahindra’s full size premium SUV, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and codenamed Y400, has now been named the Alturas G4. Set for launch later this month (24th Nov), this new Alturas G4 SUV, is slated to be one of the largest SUVs to be produced by the automaker.
The 7 seater Mahindra Alturas G4 will be offered in two variants – a lower spec G2 trim with 2WD and a fully loaded 4WD model. No pricing details have been announced as on date, but Mahindra has revealed it will be a rival to cars in the Rs 30+ lakhs segment in India. This includes the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Honda CRV and so on.
Bookings have also been opened at a down payment of Rs 50,000, while production operation has also started in Pune. The car will be sold as a CKD, with large number of parts imported from South Korea.
Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, M&M Ltd. said, “The Alturas G4 is our most luxurious offering till date and will come with a host of technology & safety features, many of which are not available in vehicles in a similar price range. We have always been a pioneer when it comes to creating industry benchmarks and the Alturas G4 will be no different. We are certain that with the Alturas G4, we would redefine the high-end SUV segment.”
Mahindra Alturas G4, being the flagship offering from the company will come in loaded with luxury. It is for this reason that the automaker is designating exclusive sales zones within company showrooms for its display and sale. These zones are called ‘World of SUVs’ and will offer a more premium dealership experience to customers both where sales and service are concerned. Apart from this, Mahindra has also launched ‘Purple Club+‘, a first in category loyalty program that would enable customers to earn and redeem points based on engagements with the brand.
Exterior features include HID projecter headlamps and LED tail lamps, large alloy wheels, sunroof and extensive use of chrome. Cabin comforts will see soft touch material throughout its interiors. It will receive dual zone climate control, ventilated seating and a large 8” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity. Where safety is concerned, the Alturas G4 will receive a total of 9 airbags, ABS, EBD, electric parking brake and a 360 degree parking assist camera.
Both trims of the Alturas G4 will be powered by the same 2.2 liter diesel engine offering 182 PS power and 450 Nm torque mated to a 7 speed automatic transmission. There will be no manual transmission on offer.
