Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. reported 28% sales growth equated by 43988 units during May 2012. This is a substantial growth when compared to during May 2011 during which time the leading Indian SUV automaker sold 34323 units.
In the Indian auto market, M&M sold 39938 units in May 2012, as compared to 32159 vehicles sold during May 2011. This marks 24% sales growth. In the passenger Vehicles segment, which comprises of utility vehicles and the Verito sedan, M&M recorded 27% sales growth.
Mahindra sold 21154 passenger vehicles in India through May 2012, as compared to 16702 units sold in May 2011. In the load and passenger four-wheeler commercial and small commercial vehicles segments, M&M registered 33% sales growth, wherein the Pick-UP and Maxximo work wonders. Mahindra has already ramped production for their ever in demand XUV500SUV, and bookings will be re-opened on 8th June. The Indian auto market is currently reeling under pressure from increased petrol prices. The buoy lies unbalanced and suggestions to increase price of diesel vehicles is looming overhead.
Mahindra’s Auto Sector registers 28% growth during May 2012
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, today announced a 28% rise in its auto sales numbers, which stood at 43988 units during May 2012 as against 34323 units during May 2011.
The company’s domestic sales stood at 39938 units during May 2012, as against 32159 units during May 2011, an increase of 24%. The Passenger Vehicles segment (which includes the UVs and Verito) has registered a growth of 27%, having sold 21154 units in May 2012, as against 16702 units during May 2011.
Speaking on the performance, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We are happy to have achieved a growth of 28% during May 2012 in spite of difficult and uncertain market conditions. All our brands, especially those in the personal category are doing well. With the planned ramp up of production capacity and the re–opening of bookings of the XUV500 effective 8th of June pan India, we expect to meet the demand of many more of our XUV500 customers”.

Mahindra Tractors sells 18019 units in the domestic market during May 2012
Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), a part of the U.S. $15.4 billion Mahindra Group, maintained its leadership position in the tractor industry in May 2012.
Domestic sales in May 2012 stood at 18019 units, as against 17952 units during May 2011. Total tractor sales (domestic + exports) in May 2012 stood at 19016 units, as against 18892 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month of May 2012 stood at 997 units.
