Mahindra Bolero SUV- 10 lakh units sold, and counting

Today, Mahindra Bolero has touched a new milestone. 10 lakh units have been sold since the journey began in August 2000.

Bolero featured in the list of ‘Top 10 Passenger Vehicles of India’ as the third highest selling SUV in India In February. YoY growth is reported at 23 percent, higher than industry growth of 17 percent. It made its entry into the coveted list with 8k units sold.

Launch of the Mahindra Bolero Power+ in 2016 provided a much needed growth boost to the icon that’ll soon be a 2 decade growth story. Bolero Power+ offers a value proposition that caters to improved power, more mileage and a peppier drive.

Mahindra Bolero Power+ was made available at a price of Rs. 6.59 lakhs (ex-showroom Navi Mumbai for SLE BS 4 variant excluding octroi and other levies) back in September 2016. The vehicle has an entry level price point of Rs 7.2 Lakhs today.

Compared to the previous Bolero, new Bolero Power+ with mHawkD70 engine delivered 13 percent more power with max power at 52.5 kW (70 bhp) and 195 Nm torque. Mileage is up by 5 percent.

On the inside, the new car offers better cushioned seats to improve ride comfort. The 7 seater has the same interior space as the current Bolero. Available in 3 variants – SLE, SLX and ZLXsales begin today.

Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra said Bolero is reputed as India’s top SUV for 10 years in a row (2005-06 to 2015-16). All New Bolero Power+ enhances product value proposition, and will excite more buyers.

It’s signature front grille and masculine bumpers are continued. Blue vision headlamps and contemporary body decals accentuate its stylish and sporty appeal. Dual tome interiors complement exterior style.

On the inside, the car SUV sports a digital instrument cluster, Driver Information System (DIS), voice messaging system and fuel-saving Micro Hybrid technology on ZLX. The latter lets the vehicle switch the engine into standby mode when not required to ensure lower fuel consumption. The engine immobilizer shuts down the engine if any key other than your key is used to ensure vehicle safety.

First launched in August 2000, Bolero has evolved over the years. In 2016, there were more than 9 lakh Boleros on the road. It’s also a a preferred vehicle for the military and para military forces for years.
