Mahindra Bolero mini SUV dashboard spied, features AMT

Spotted on test regularly, new Mahindra Bolero mini SUV’s interiors were snapped for the first time. Codenamed U301 currently, this new compact SUV from Mahindra is not going to be built on a monocoque chassis, as earlier expected. Instead, it will be based on a ladder-frame chassis, very similar (but shorter) to the chassis of new Scorpio. Mahindra has kept the monocoque chassis for their even smaller SUV, which are currently codenamed as S101 and S102.

Interiors of Mahindra Bolero mini SUV seem to be production ready.

From the spy shot, some of the features aboard the Mahindra Bolero mini SUV are easily noticeable. For instance, the new three spoke steering wheel with a Mahindra logo in the centre. This same steering wheel is also expected to feature on the S101 and S102 SUVs. Apart from this, we see XUV500 styled two chrome-ringed dials on the instrument cluster, centre console on the dash features faux aluminium and chrome finish, rectangular air vents, plastic knobs for air-con controls, faux wood housing the gear stick which has premium knob with ivory finish, AUX and USB input, music system, colour touchscreen, and a 12V charger.

Spied by Autocar India reader Chandra Devi, sources reveal that this is not a top end variant. The top end variant will come with auto climate control, and not manual knobs as seen in the spy shot above. This one in the image above is a 1.5l diesel ZLX variant.

Mahindra Bolero mini SUV exteriors do not look as tempting as interiors.

Another interesting fact the spy shot reveals is the AMT setup. On closer inspection of the spy shot, it is clear that the Mahindra Bolero mini SUV will also be offered with AMT gearbox. The other setup is expected to be a 5 speed manual transmission. The interiors reveal that the test mule here is in a production ready condition. Though Mahindra has not yet revealed when the new SUV will be launched, expect it to be launched later this year. As far as price is concerned, we guess it could be in the range of Rs 6-7 lakhs, placing it between the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.
