Mahindra Centuro Disc Brake variant launch price Rs 51,300

First launched back in July 2013, the 110 cc stylish commuter segment motorcycle from Mahindra – Centuro had an impressive start. Featuring first in segment features like flip key, remote lock with 96 bit encryption, 5 year warranty, engine immobiliser, anti-theft key and find-me lamps; sales of Mahindra Centuro have been rather disappointing in the recent months.

Launched at an aggressive price tag of just Rs 44,000 for the fully loaded variant, bookings crossed 10,000 in 18 days after launch. Sales in the first launch month stood at 10,158 units. By August, the company had over 30,000 bookings, and by October the figures had crossed 70,000; for their new Centuro motorcycle.

Such tremendous response caught the attention of rivals Hero, Honda, TVS, and Bajaj; the four major players in the segment. But, Mahindra failed to keep the momentum going. Slowly, but steadily the sales of Centuro kept declining.

Mahindra tried to renew interest by regularly launching new variants. January 2014 saw the launch of N1, a new entry level variant which was placed below the existing Centuro variant, called O1.

After O1, the company launched Rockstar variants in two trims – one without self-start and the other with self start. These two were launched back in August 2014. Both these variants were placed below the N1 variant; but still did not manage to achieve expected results.
