Mahindra e2o Kashmir to Kanyakumari expedition flagged off

India’s foremost electric car company, Mahindra Reva has flagged off an expedition which is first of its kind in the country. This new expedition will see the company’s flagship car, e2o travel from Kashmir to Kanyakumari within 30 days.

Flagged off from Srinagar, over the next 30 days three Mahindra Reva e2o’s will travel a distance of over 5,000 kms. During this expedition, the convoy will halt at 52 strategic locations.

The idea behind the expedition, which is named as – ‘Mahindra Reva Goodness Drive – Kashmir to Kanyakumari’, is to demonstrate the advantages of electric vehicles, thereby helping in the manifestation of a clean and green eco-system.

First launched in March 2013, Mahindra e2o sales have not been as expected. The major reason is the price tag, which crosses INR 8 lakh in majority of the cities. The reason behind this is the lack of government support and no infrastructure to help develop electric car culture in the country. Such reasons, in addition to the popular belief that electric cars do not have enough range, has pushed sales of Mahindra e2o to lower than expected. In two years, Mahindra e2o sales have crossed only 5,000 units.

Through this expedition, Mahindra hopes to dispel any myths related to range anxiety, demonstrate the car’s ability to traverse tough and difficult terrain, ability to accelerate instantly, shortest turning radius of the car and convenience of clutch free driving.

Mahindra Reva e2o is a full electric vehicles with a range of upto 120 kms on a single charge.

Speaking at the flag off, Arvind Mathew, Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Reva said, “Mahindra e2o is the Mahindra Group’s endeavor to offer its customers a clean, smart and economical personal mobility solution and thus redefine sustainable urbanization.”
