Mahindra e2o NXT debuts at Auto Expo 2018 – Features large touchscreen

The Mahindra e2o NXT, a cosmetically upgraded version of the existing e2o Plus (4-seater) electric city car, has been unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018. The small car is accompanied by two new electric urban mobility concepts named Udo and Atom.

The e2o NXT retains the quirky boxy nature of the original model but the front and rear fascias have been subjected to a comprehensive makeover. The facelift involves new and larger dual-barrel headlamp clusters, blue backlit grille to highlight the electric powertrain, and a new bumper with integrated skirts.

The profile is left intact save for side skirts while the rear fascia of the 4-seater version receives a reskinned tailgate with large grey insert below the windshield. The black diffuser houses blue lights in the place where conventional tailpipes usually will be.

On the inside, the Mahindra e2o NXT comes with beige upholstery and dashboard inserts. The dashboard layout has been revised slightly and the car now boasts of a larger infotainment screen.

The running gear of the 4-seat electric car has been retained without any changes. The e2o NXT can be specified with a 11 or 15 KWh battery which drives 3-phase AC induction motors. The power and torque outputs stand at 19 KW and 70 Nm respectively. Transmission is an automatic unit with 2 forward ratios.

The 15 KW battery is claimed to offer a driving range of 140 km. The battery can be fully charged in 7 hours 20 minutes through a single-phase 3 KW 16 amp charger or in 1 hour 35 minutes through a three-phase 10 KW 32 amp charger. The vehicle has a top speed of 80 kph.

The Mahindra e2o NXT is expected to go on sale in India in the coming months without much spike in the existing price tag.
