With their first BS6 car already launched, in the form of Mahindra XUV300 petrol, the company is now gearing up to launch BS6 diesel cars. Yesterday, XUV500 BS6 specs were leaked, and today, it is the Marazzo BS6 diesel specs which have been leaked.
As per the ARAI Type Approval certificate, Mahindra Marazzo M8 variant appears to have been plugged. The six variants listed are a 7 and 8 seater M2 variant, 2 configs of M4+ ( 7 and 8 seater), and 2 variants of M6+ (7 and 8 seater).
Mahindra Marazzo M6+ now becomes the top spec trim. The development would help keep Mahindra Marazzo prices in check. Of course, a price hike is expected soon on account of BSVI transitioning, and the launch of new MY (model year) vehicles.
Still powered by the 1497cc diesel engine, Mahindra Marazzo continues to return max power of 90.2 kW (121 Hp) @ 3500RPM in power mode. In eco mode, it returns 73.3 kW (98.29 hp). Mahindra XUV300 has already been launched as a BSVI compliant vehicle late in 2019, but only with petrol engine.
The current BSIV Mahindra Marazzo features a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that returns 121bhp and 300Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual. An automatic transmission setup is awaited, and may or may not debut when the BSVI variants are launched.
Mahindra and Mahindra have noted good demand where the Marazzo is concerned. This 7 seater MPV is the country’s first vehicle to sport a traverse engine set up with a front wheel drive platform. Monthly sales have declined in the recent months. From well over the 3000 unit mark they have now slipped to below 1,000 units a month.
It was introduced at prices between Rs.9.99 lakhs and Rs.13.95 lakhs while the automaker recently hiked prices to Rs.10.35-Rs.14.68 lakhs for the 7 seater variant and to Rs.10.35 lakhs-Rs.14.76 lakhs for the 8 seater models. Launch of BS6 will result in increase of prices once again.
Mahindra has invested Rs.1,000 crores in the production of BS6 compliant engines which will include 8 diesel and 4 petrol engine to make their way across several products over the next few months.
In its BSVI avatar, Marazzo continues unaltered in form. Vehicle length is maintained at 4585 mm, width at 1866 mm, and height at 1774 mm. Wheelbase continues to be 2760 mm. As we turn the last corner of FY20, the slew of BSVI offerings comes down on the market in full force, faster than we can fathom. With less than three months to go, it’s going to be an exciting few weeks now.
