June 2015 car sales: Mahindra declines 6%, Ford by 33%
Two of the seven largest car manufacturers in India, Mahindra and Ford June 2015 car sales have declined. Both of them are hopeful of the coming months, where they expect sales to bounce back on a growth trajectory.
Mahindra Sales Report
Total sales of Mahindra for June 2015 stands at 36,124 units, which is a 6% decline as compared to June 2014 figures when the company sold 38,466 units. Excluding exports from this, Mahindra domestic sales declined by 9% to 33,282 units as against 36,452 in the same month last year.
Both passenger and commercial vehicle segments of Mahindra contributed to the decline in sales. Mahindra CV sales declined by 4% to 12,737 units as against 13,273 units sold in June 2014. This was majorly due to decline in the LCV<3.5T segment, where the company registers the most sales. With the launch of new Jeeto last month, Mahindra will be hopeful of regaining sales this month.
Mahindra’s PV segment continues to register a decline despite of the company updating two of their best selling models in the past one year – Scorpio and XUV500. Mahindra PV sales stand at 15,880 units as against 18,635 units, registering 15% decline.
On the other hand, Mahindra registered a 42% increase in exports. Total exports increased to 2,852 units from 2014 units as compared to June 2014.
Ford India Sales Report
Ford India reported a staggering 33% decline in sales for the month of June 2015. Total sales of Ford stood at 7,979 units (including exports) as against 11,935 units sold by the company in June 2014. Of the total sales, 4,257 units were sold in the domestic market while 3,452 were exported. Both, domestic sales and exports have registered a decline. Corresponding figures for June 2014 stands at 7,258 units and 4,677 units.
Ford India is gearing up for the launch of three new cars in the next nine months. The next two cars scheduled for India launch are Endeavour and Figo hatchback.
